Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. F1lmlog has no sign-up, no login and no server. Open the app and start logging.

Where is my data stored?

Everything you log — film stocks, gear, rolls, exposures, notes and photos — is stored only on your iPhone. The app makes no network requests and contains no analytics. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I back up or move my data?

Go to Settings → Export data to save a ZIP archive with all your data and photos, or Settings → Export exposures as CSV for a spreadsheet of your exposure log. Both open the iOS share sheet, so you can save to Files, AirDrop to a Mac or send by email.

Because nothing is stored in the cloud, deleting the app also deletes your data. Export a copy first if you want to keep it.

How do I delete my data?

Go to Settings → Delete all data. This permanently erases every roll, exposure, gear item and photo. Deleting the app removes everything as well.

Why does the app ask for camera access?

The camera is used by the Light Meter tool to measure scene brightness, and to take a reference photo when you log an exposure. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.

Why does the app ask for photo library access?

Only so you can pick a photo to attach to an exposure, a gear item or a roll. The app only sees the photos you choose.

What is the “Tokyo Summer” roll?

It’s an example roll that comes with the app so you can explore every screen before loading your own film. You can delete it like any other roll.

How do I see the walkthrough again?

Go to Settings → Show tour.
